Introduction
Turkey is a staple during holiday feasts but can become dry and bland. That’s why I created this recipe that adds flavor and moisture to the meat. The tartness of cranberries combined with the sweetness of honey makes a perfect balance that will leave your taste buds wanting more.
Ingredients:
- 1 whole turkey (10-12 pounds)
- 2 cups fresh cranberries
- 1 cup honey
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 4 cloves of garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Rinse the turkey thoroughly with cold water and pat dry with paper towels.
- Combine the cranberries, honey, melted butter, and minced garlic in a small saucepan. Cook over medium heat for 5-7 minutes until the cranberries burst and the sauce thickens. Set aside.
- Place the turkey on a roasting pan and season both sides generously with salt and pepper.
- Coat the turkey with the cranberry glaze on all sides with a basting brush.
- Cover the roasting pan with aluminum foil and place it in the oven.
- Roast for 1 hour and 30 minutes covered, then uncover and continue roasting for an additional hour or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Baste the turkey with the remaining cranberry glaze every 20 minutes.
- Once done, remove the turkey from the oven and let it rest for 10-15 minutes before carving.
- Serve your cranberry-gazed turkey with extra cranberry sauce on the side, and enjoy!
Tips:
- Adjust the cooking time for a larger turkey and use more glaze.
- Don’t have fresh cranberries? You can also use canned whole cranberry sauce for the glaze.
- Make sure to baste the turkey frequently to keep it moist and flavorful.
