Summer Girl’s Christmas Wish

The house was filled with the soft glow of Christmas lights. The tree shimmered. The air smelled of cinnamon and pine. Teddy and Bear proudly told Summer all about the letter they had written to Santa Claus earlier in the week. Their tails wagged as they relived the excitement of choosing toys and treats, only to realize that the best wish of all was one meant for others. At first, she wrote down simple joys. A new ball for chasing in the backyard. A toy she could proudly bring to her human sister, Alyssa. A cozy blanket for naps after hard play sessions with Teddy and Bear.

Then she paused.
