Teddy and Bear Write a Letter to Santa Claus

A Teddy and Bear Moments Story

“Every season brings new adventures for Teddy and Bear, but Christmas seems to bring out something extra magical in them. It may be the twinkle of lights or the promise of a cozy fire, or it may be that this time of year reminds them how much love fills their home. Either way, their holiday stories shine a little brighter. This one begins with excitement and ends with something even better, the moment when two golden hearts decide to share their Christmas wish with the world.”  Mom

Teddy and Bear Write a Letter to Santa Claus

Teddy and Bear had been watching the Christmas festivities unfold in the house for several days. The tree was sparkling. The stockings were hung. And Mom kept humming cheerful songs while baking treats that smelled suspiciously like ginger and cinnamon. One morning, after a particularly spirited tail wagging session in front of the fireplace, Bear suddenly announced that it was time for them to write their letter to Santa Claus.

Teddy nodded thoughtfully. He took these matters very seriously. Bear bounced in excitement, his paws tapping across the floor like happy drumbeats.

They found a piece of paper on the coffee table, and Teddy tapped it gently with his paw. Bear grabbed a crayon from the basket. There was only one problem. Neither of them knew how to spell very many human words. Still, they were determined. Santa was patient. Santa understood dogs. Everyone knew that.

With a deep breath, Teddy began their list.

First, they asked for toys. Lots of toys. A new squeaky duck for Bear. A rope that Teddy could use to play gently but proudly. Balls that bounced extra high. Stuffies that would last more than three days. Bear added a request for a treat dispenser shaped like a snowman. Teddy asked for biscuits that tasted like homemade love.

They were getting quite carried away. Their tails wagged so vigorously that the paper shifted across the table and the crayon rolled onto the rug. They giggled the happy way dogs do, with soft huffs and wriggly shoulders.

Then Teddy paused.

Something inside him, that wise little spark he always carried, whispered that maybe they should think bigger. Bear noticed Teddy staring at the Christmas tree with a thoughtful expression.

What is it, Uncle Teddy? Bear asked, tilting his head.

Teddy gently placed his paw on the paper again. Look at us, Bear. We have toys in our basket. We have warm beds. We have Mom and Dad who love us. We have each other. Santa already gave us everything we truly need.

Bear blinked. His comic, joyful nature made him the master of fun, but he also had a wide-open heart. And when he really listened, he understood exactly what Teddy meant.

Slowly, Bear picked up the crayon again. What if we ask Santa for something special? Not for us, but for dogs and kitties who are waiting in shelters?

Teddy’s tail wagged softly with approval.

Together, with careful paw prints and slightly crooked letters, they wrote their final wish.

Dear Santa,
Please help all doggies and kitties find loving forever homes.
We already have ours. That is the best gift of all.
Love, your good boys!
Teddy and Bear.

They looked at what they had created. It was messy and smudged. There were a few paw prints, one drool spot, and one mysterious smear of peanut butter. But it was perfect, because it came from their hearts.

That night, they placed the letter under the Christmas tree. Teddy lay his head on his paws. Bear snuggled close beside him. As the lights twinkled above them, they both felt something warm and hopeful fill the room.
Some wishes are bigger than toys. Some gifts do not come wrapped. And Teddy and Bear knew that Santa would understand every word.

Closing Thoughts From Mom

“As I watched Teddy and Bear drift to sleep beside the tree, I realized that their simple wish held more meaning than all the glitter and gifts of the season. They reminded me that Christmas is not about what we receive but what we give and the love we share with those who need it most. If two gentle golden souls can make such a heartfelt wish, then the rest of us can follow their lead and open our hearts a little wider this year. After all, kindness is the greatest gift we can offer, and it never runs out.”
