Thanksgiving Sweet Potato Recipe

Thanksgiving is a special time of year, filled with love, laughter, and delicious food. One dish that always makes an appearance on the dinner table is sweet potatoes. Whether it’s candied or mashed, this root vegetable adds a touch of sweetness to your holiday meal.
But why settle for the same old recipe when you can spice things up with a new and original sweet potato dish? This Thanksgiving, impress your family and friends with this mouthwatering recipe that will leave them wanting more.

Ingredients
  • 4 medium-sized sweet potatoes
  • ¼ cup of melted butter
  • ⅓ cup of brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon of nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • 1 cup of mini marshmallows
Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Start by washing and scrubbing the sweet potatoes under running water.
  3. Place them on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil and poke holes using a fork.
  4. Bake the sweet potatoes for 45 minutes to an hour until tender.
  5. Once baked, remove the sweet potatoes from the oven and let them cool down for a few minutes.
  6. Cut each sweet potato in half lengthwise and scoop the flesh into a mixing bowl.
  7. Add melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt to the sweet potato flesh. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.
  8. Transfer the sweet potato mixture to a baking dish and smooth the top with a spatula.
  9. Top it off with mini marshmallows, ensuring they’re evenly distributed on top of the sweet potato mixture.
  10. Bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the marshmallows are golden brown.
  11. Let the dish cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.

Tips and Tricks
  • For an extra crunch, add chopped pecans or walnuts on top of the marshmallows before baking.

  • Want a healthier option? Substitute the brown sugar with honey or maple syrup, and reduce the butter used.
