Dr. Teddy is usually very energetic and always ready to play, but last week, he had to take a day off to rest and care for himself. He always takes good care of himself, whether by getting enough sleep at night, taking naps during the day, going for walks, or enjoying playtime. So, it’s time to Ask Dr. Teddy again. Here are his top self-care tips.
Get enough sleep
Dr. Teddy says that getting enough sleep is crucial for staying healthy. He recommends sleeping at least 7-8 hours every night, just like he does. Dr. Teddy also likes to nap during the day, especially after a long walk or play session. “Sleep helps me recharge my batteries,” he says. “When I wake up, I feel ready to care for Mom and Dad again.”
Eat healthy
“Food is fuel,” says Dr. Teddy. “To feel good and have energy, you must eat the right things.” Dr. Teddy eats a balanced diet with protein, fruits, vegetables, and carbohydrates. He also gets a special treat every once in a while (Mom’s homemade ice cream), but he doesn’t overdo it. “I don’t want to get sick or overweight,” he says. “Taking care of myself means eating healthy most of the time.”
Exercise regularly
One of the things Dr. Teddy loves to do is go for walks. He also enjoys playing fetch and running around with Bear and Summer in the backyard. “Exercise is important for my physical and mental health,” he says. “It helps me stay strong and happy.” Dr. Teddy recommends that everyone should find an activity they enjoy and do it regularly. “It doesn’t have to be intense,” he says. “Even a short walk can do wonders for your mood.”
The Bear and Teddy love to run around and chase one another frequently! They are powerful and fast!
Practice self-compassion
Finally, Dr. Teddy wants everyone to remember to be kind to themselves. “We all make mistakes and have bad days,” he says. “It’s important to be gentle with ourselves and not beat ourselves up.” Dr. Teddy recommends using positive self-talk, doing things that make you happy, and finding ways to connect with others. “Self-compassion is about treating yourself like your best friend,” he says.
