The Power of Organizing: Why it Makes You Feel Better

Moving can be overwhelming and stressful. As Jim, Teddy, Bear, and I prepare to move, the process of organizing and packing has been surprisingly beneficial to my mental state. Despite the chaos of moving, taking control of the situation through proper organization has allowed me to feel more in control and grounded. I have realized just how helpful organizing can be to my overall well-being. So, if you’re feeling overwhelmed by the stresses of moving or life in general, try taking a step back and implementing some organization in your routine. You might be surprised at how much of a positive impact it can have on your mental health. So, let me share.

Do you find yourself feeling overwhelmed, stressed, and anxious all the time? Are you struggling to manage your workload, personal life, and everything else? If you answered yes, you are not alone. Many people experience similar feelings, and it’s okay not to have it all together all the time. However, there is a powerful tool that can help you feel better and alleviate some of that stress – organizing.

Organizing might initially seem daunting, but it has scientifically proven benefits for your mental and emotional health. Why is that the case? And what are some actionable ways to incorporate organizing into your daily routine? Keep reading to find out.

The first reason organizing can make you feel better is the sense of control it gives you. When you’re overwhelmed, it’s common to feel like you’re not in control of anything. By organizing, you’re taking charge of your environment and your to-do list. This can help you feel more confident, capable, and empowered. Even something as simple as organizing your desk or closet can give you a sense of accomplishment and motivate you to tackle other tasks.

Another reason why organizing is so powerful is that it can help reduce anxiety. When you have a lot on your plate and a messy environment, it’s easy to get lost in your thoughts and feel trapped. By organizing, you’re creating a clear and calm space for your mind to focus on the present moment. This can help reduce anxiety and give you a sense of peace.

In addition to the mental and emotional benefits, organizing can save you time and increase productivity. When you have a clear list of tasks and a clean and organized environment, you can focus on the essential things and avoid distractions. This can help you work more efficiently and accomplish more in less time.

So, how can you incorporate organizing into your daily routine? Here are some suggestions:

Start small: Don’t try to organize your entire house or to-do list in one day. Start with a tiny area, like your desk or your closet, and work your way up from there.

Use a planner: Write down your tasks and keep track of deadlines and appointments. This can help you stay organized and avoid procrastination.

Declutter: Get rid of things that you no longer need or use. This can free up space and create a more peaceful environment.

Take breaks: Remember to take breaks and give yourself time to rest and recharge. This can help you avoid burnout and stay motivated.

In summary, organizing is a powerful tool that can help you feel more in control, reduce anxiety, increase productivity, and save time. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed at work or home, taking the time to organize something, anything, can make a big difference. Remember to start small, use a planner, declutter, and take breaks. You got this!
