Today, March 1, 2025, we celebrate an incredible furry child, a quiet companion, and the most human dog I’ve ever known—Teddy is officially six years old! It’s hard to describe how special this golden boy is, but if you’ve followed me for any length of time, then you know Teddy. You already know he’s not “just a dog.” He’s so much more than that. He’s my soul dog.
He’s not your typical dog. He doesn’t care about barking but doesn’t want Bear to feel alone. These little quirks, like how he always nudges his food bowl towards Bear when he’s done eating, among many others, remind me how unique and special he is.
One of my favorite things about Teddy is his appreciation for good food. He’s not a dog who “scarfs down his meal”—he genuinely savors his meals like a food critic carefully evaluating taste and presentation. Knowing that he enjoys the effort I put into making his meals healthy and tasty is rewarding. Watching him dig in with that happy golden smile always makes my day.
My heart feels full when I think of the memories we’ve shared. I remember Teddy curled beside me on the couch, his peaceful presence making everything feel right in the world… quiet moments spent side by side, where words aren’t needed, just the warmth of his companionship… those rare, hilarious moments when he lets out a bark, almost as if to remind me he can be loud if he wants to (but why bother?)… Every moment with Teddy is pure joy, and I can’t imagine my life without him. His companionship has brought so much depth and richness to my life, and I am genuinely grateful for that.
They say some dogs come into your life to teach you about loyalty, love, and patience. Teddy, you’ve done all that and more. You’ve shown me that love doesn’t always need words—it can be as simple as the warmth of fur against your hand, a wag of the tail, or the steady rhythm of your breathing next to mine. You’ve taught me loyalty by consistently being by my side, love by showing me affection every day, and patience by waiting for me to come home, no matter how long it takes. You’ve also taught me about resilience and strength, especially when I was sick. You’ve shown me that love and joy can prevail even in the face of adversity.
Happy 6th birthday, Teddy. 🐶 Here’s to more cuddles on the couch, wagging tails, and delicious meals. Thank you for being my steadfast companion and filling each day with unconditional love. I am so lucky to have you in my life. You’re not just my dog—you’re my heart. And to all of you who have shared in Teddy’s journey, thank you for your love and support. You’re a part of Teddy’s story, too.
