Because of COVID-19, I wanted to do something that would make others smile and perhaps even laugh. So I began a series of postings on Facebook, Dr. Teddy. I know that not everyone has a Facebook account, so I wanted to share the series here as well, and add a little further humor by sharing behind-the-scenes realities of each photograph.
Dr. Teddy here and for the next ten days, I am going to share with you what Candy and I are doing to help mom and dad, who are staying inside because of the Coronavirus. Please share your tips. We need them!
Each of these Dr. Teddy postings were intended to be humorous, but one thing is for sure, Jim and I need Teddy and Candy! Without them, we might worry and be frightened, but our pups keep us on our feet keep us moving! They are saving us!
Day 1 – Candy and I try to take mom and dad on frequent walks. It seems to help their mood. I carefully put a leash in mom’s hand and one in dad’s hand and then lead them out the door.
We do take frequent walks with Teddy and Candy, and Teddy does always lead the way. He seems very eager to have all of his family included!
Day 2 – Dr. Teddy here again, and it’s day two. Candy is patiently listening to mom!
Candy has always been the most loving and caring dog. When Candy was a puppy, I could see her in a therapy roll as a comfort dog. In this picture, she was focused on me, and listening to what I was saying.
Day 3 – Dr. Teddy – “We need to help one another. Candy has health issues and needs mom’s help to eat, so I make sure I am there to help mom.”
Candy almost 14 years old, and she has health issues. I wrote about her health in another blog. Candy is frail and thin and will only eat if I feed her. So I do! Teddy eats much more quickly than Candy and then waits for her to finish.
Day 4 – Dr. Teddy – Sometimes I need to tackle mom & dad and force them to take a moment to be calm.
This is an authentic photograph where a moment of quiet followed a period of play. Teddy is very energetic and loves to run and play with tennis balls and a variety of other stimulating toys. I’ve mentioned the puzzle balls in other blogs.
Day 5 – Dr. Teddy – Saying, “I love and need you!” is the best!
Teddy’s expression seems to always exude love.
Day 6 – Dr. Teddy – I make sure mom’s coffee is ready each morning.
Teddy doesn’t make my coffee, but he is curious and eager to check out everything! We have to be very conscientious of this and protect him.
Day 7 – Dr. Teddy – For today’s aerobic class I’ve grabbed a rock and mom & dad will chase me to get it. I am much faster than them.
Teddy loves to have us chase him and play the game, “catch me if you can.” He’s much faster than either my husband or I, so we do get a lot of aerobic activity! In this picture, he’s grabbed a rock, and he’s waiting for us to chase him.
Day 8 – Dr. Teddy – Taking care of mom & dad means I have to watch their dumb videos sometimes.
Teddy’s curiosity has no limits, and when dad was looking at his phone, Teddy wanted to check it out too. I don’t think he found the video interesting, however, by the expression on his face.
Day 9 – Dr. Teddy – I make sure mom is washing her paws completely!
Teddy doesn’t want to miss out on any potential adventure! Even if I’m just washing my hands, he wants to be involved.
Day 10 – Dr. Teddy – I’ve been asked what do I do for fun when I am not taking care of mom & dad. Well, I am training for the backyard Olympics. Here I am practicing the very difficult “running through the cones with a pillow in your mouth” event.
Everything is exciting and potentially fun for Teddy. He is just the happiest little boy! His favorite game is to grab something/anything and run!
I hope you enjoyed the Dr. Teddy series, and it brought you a smile and perhaps some laughter. We are in very stressful times and navigating a new reality. Humor helps! Love to everyone!
Wow, wonderful blog layout! How long have you been blogging for?
you made blogging look easy. The overall look of your web site is magnificent, as well
as the content!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate your comments!
Good post. I learn something totally new and challenging on websites I stumbleupon on a daily basis.
It’s always exciting to read content from
other authors and use a little something from other websites.
I’ve been browsing online more than 3 hours today, yet I never found any
interesting article like yours. It is pretty worth enough for me.
Personally, if all webmasters and bloggers made good content as you
did, the web will be a lot more useful than ever before.
Thank you so much!
