Candy and Teddy have ridden elevators and run down long hallways to go outside. They’ve met both friendly and unfriendly dogs, all trying to find the perfect spot to go potty. Teddy has met more people in the past month, which is great for socialization, but he seems to have forgotten all of his training. I’ve been in communications with his trainer, and the trainer is confident that once things settle down and are stable again, he’ll be OK. Nobu has told me several times that dogs don’t generalize well, and everything is new and exciting. Even though he misbehaves, everyone still seems to think he’s super cool.
Candy and Teddy have become seasoned travelers with frequent trips back and forth between Tracy and Arnold, CA.
We can provide the most consistency or “normal” environment at the house in Arnold, but even that is limited. We brought Teddy’s little pool up with us this time, and he loves it. I’m not sure what adventures he is living in his mind while circling in his pool and blowing bubbles, but it’s his favorite thing.
I am happy to report that Candy is doing very well in spite of all of the confusion and stress. Candy is still very shaky, but her appetite has improved dramatically. Maybe Candy is a mountain dog at heart and feels better at the higher elevation and in the crisp mountain air.
Both Candy and Teddy have kept Jim and me moving forward and not allow one unexpected disaster to rule our lives.
Teddy is young and strong and Candy is the rock. They both have kept life as normal as possible for Jim and I.
