I am always searching for healthy recipes for Teddy and Bear. In the cookbook Doggy Desserts by Cheryl Gianfrancesco, on page 50, I found the following recipe for Peanut Butter Carob Cookies. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the carob power, so I didn’t include it. Nevertheless, these are the cookies I made for Teddy’s birthday. They are safe for our canine babies, not as a food replacement but as a reward or snack.
Ingriedients:
- 6 tablespoons all-natural applesauce, no sugar added
- 1/4 cup of honey
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup all-natural peanut butter, no salt or sugar added
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups unbleached white flour
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1/2 cup carob powder
- two eggs
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
Steps:
- In a large bowl, mix all the ingredients.
- Make 1-inch balls with the dough. Place the balls 3 inches apart on a baking sheet. With the fork, flatten each ball, leaving indent marks from the fork.
- Bake at 350° for 10 to 12 minutes. When done, the cookie should be firm to the touch.
- Turn off the oven, and leave the cookies in for one to two hours to harden. Yield: approximately 55 cookies
