I recently bought a large water bottle from Amazon, a Coolflask 64 oz Water bottle, without realizing that giant water bottles are a hot trend. I bought mine for the convenience of having my ice water always available and to make it easier to share with Teddy and Bear when we go on walks. Mine has a strap so that I can sling it over my shoulder.
As water is essential for life, it stands to reason that most of us should be drinking more water than we do. But recently, there has been a new trend—people of all ages are buying giant water bottles and drinking specific amounts on a schedule throughout the day. Apparently, this type of hydration will help your skin, help you lose weight, help your energy level, and help with anti-aging. Whew! Drinking a lot of water is perceived as a cure-all for better health, but is it?
The giant water bottle trend provides convenience and reduces the need to refill or buy single-serving bottled water. But how much water should we be drinking? Most experts recommend at least 8 glasses daily, with an ideal amount of 1.5–2 liters of water – that translates to over two giant bottles! So next time you reach for your giant bottle, ensure you drink enough throughout the day to stay healthy and hydrated. Unfortunately, I am not drinking enough water for the miracle cures promised on social media to kick in.
With the rising popularity of giant water bottles, it’s important to understand why hydration is so critical and how these large water containers can help us reach our goals. Dehydration occurs when you don’t drink enough water or other fluids to replace what you lose throughout the day.
Giant water bottles are popular because they help people stay hydrated throughout the day with the ever-present water bottle, and there are those miracle cures. However, the giant water bottles are minimizing plastic waste from disposable water bottles. They’re also often more affordable in the long run—you can purchase one large water bottle and refill it over time to save money. Plus, many of them come with cool features like an infuser to flavor your water naturally or a reusable ice cube tray to stay extra cool. I load mine up with ice cubes and water.
Note: You need to clean the water bottle regularly—it’s one of the most critical steps in water safety.
I am part of a growing trend and didn’t even know it. I really enjoy the convenience of my giant water bottle, but I don’t expect any miracle cures, but stay tuned.
