Treats for Dr. Teddy

I wanted to do something fun, and who is more deserving than Teddy. So, something special for Dr. Teddy was in order. So, looking through the Pup-Approved Dog Treat Recipes, I found a simple recipe to try, Too Hot for Walkies.

Just the picture of the finished frozen yogurt treats was too cute for words!

The Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup frozen blueberries, thawed
  • 1 cup frozen strawberries, thawed
  • 1 1/2 cups plain yogurt

  1. Spoon 1/3 of the yogurt into a silicone mold.
  2. Divide the remaining yogurt in half and mix with the blueberries and strawberries.
  3. Spoon the blueberry and strawberry yogurt mixtures into the remaining spaces in the silicone mold, then place in the freezer until frozen, about 2 to 3 hours.
  4. Unmold and serve to your puppies on a warm day!

Note: I modified this recipe a little. The silicone molds that I ordered were small, and I chose not to add yogurt to the blueberries or strawberries. As it was, the little molds were overflowing.

Amazon to the rescue! I did not have any silicone molds for desserts, let alone doggie paw silicone molds. So I ordered them.
How cute are these molds! The larger ones are my favorite!
Once I had the silicone molds, I had to collect the ingredients. 1 cup frozen strawberries, thawed.
1 cup frozen blueberries, thawed.
Teddy was very curious at this point. "What is mom doing?"
Does that book say, "Doggie Treats?"

Note: This is another step that I modified, and I will only show the photos of the steps for the blueberries, but I did the same thing for both blueberries and strawberries.

1 cup frozen blueberries, thawed.
The recipe did not recommend putting either fruit in the blender, but I did.
Another view of the blueberries in the blender.
I wanted the fruit to have a similar texture to a jelly rather than be chunky.
I assembled the simple ingredients.
The silicone doggie molds.
I began adding the yogurt to each little mold.
Next, I added the strawberries.
Then I followed with the blueberries, and each little mold was overflowing.
I put the silicone trays in the freezer for 3 hours.
After Teddy's dinner, I thought I would give him his special treat, but first, I had to taste both. OMG! They were delicious!
I made a big deal out of tasting each treat, hoping Teddy would be eager to try the goodies. But, instead, he carefully sniffed and licked the strawberry one and then gobbled them both down in seconds.
Hmm, that was good!
My little strawberry, blueberry, and yogurt treats have the Dr. Teddy seal of approval!

Now I need to watch and make sure that Teddy’s tummy is not sensitive to the new treats. If he is, then I’ll eat them myself.
