Hi there, my name is Bear, and I am one lucky pup! Mom says Thanksgiving is a special time to reflect on the things we’re grateful for. I gotta say, I have A LOT to be thankful for. If I could send smells through this story, I’d share a whiff of turkey and pumpkin pie because that’s what love smells like to me right now. But instead, here’s my story of gratitude, from one fluffy heart to another.
My Loving Family
First and foremost, I am thankful for Mom and Dad. They say I’m their little baby…I think that’s because they can’t resist my adorable tail wags and puppy-dog eyes. I follow Mom everywhere—to the kitchen, to her office to watch her type on her loud “click-click” thing, even to the bathroom (why she needs privacy there, I’ll never know). I like being close to her because, well, I love her.
Mom makes me the tastiest breakfasts and dinners; even Teddy agrees, and he’s picky! Oh, and don’t get me started on the special treats she whips up just for us. Peanut butter cookies—yes, please! I’m also thankful that Mom and Dad never, and I mean NEVER, leave us alone. They know I get a little scared when they’re gone, and it’s like they understand how much I need them around. That’s love, right?
Uncle Teddy and Summer, My BFF
Having Uncle Teddy and Summer in my life? Absolute gold. Uncle Teddy is the best, and I love teasing him! I grab his toys, he growls dramatically, and then we both wag our tails because, in the end, it’s always good fun.
And Summer—oh, Summer! She’s my best friend in the world. Whenever she comes over for playgroup, the backyard becomes our kingdom. We bolt across the yard, sometimes chasing balls or each other. She’s fast, but I’ve got moves. Spending time with her makes my heart happiest. (Don’t tell her, but I actually like her more than peanut butter.)
The Greatest Backyard and Nighttime Visitors
Our backyard is like my own little doggy paradise. There’s so much space to run, jump, and play. Sometimes, Mom throws balls for me and Teddy; other times, I bark at the wind because it’s my yard, and I can do that.
But the best part happens at night. Mom has cameras that snap photos of all the visitors who sneak in when it’s dark—raccoons, possums, and foxes (oh my!). They come to check the place out. I wish they’d stay and play, but they always run away. If only they knew I’m just a nice little boy looking for new friends!
My Toys (and Stealing Teddy’s!)
Toys, toys, TOYS! I’m thankful for every squeaky ball, plush toy, and chew bone in the house. But you know what’s even better? Teddy’s toys. There’s this thrill in sneaking his favorite ones. He’s such a dramatic growler, which makes it ten times more fun. Don’t worry, I always make sure we share in the end… mostly.
Joy Rides in the Truck
The truck is another thing I’m super grateful for. Mom and Dad take me on rides, and I feel like the king of the road, my nose sniffing all the fascinating smells zipping by. Sometimes, we go to really cool places like the park or somewhere with lots of new doggie smells. Other times, they trick me, and we end up at the vet—sneaky Mom and Dad! But even then, I’m just happy to be with them, and the truck ride is always an adventure.
My Chance to Share My Story
Finally, I’m thankful for the chance to tell you about my life. Mom and Dad always say I’m a happy little boy, and they’re absolutely right. Life is full of cuddles, belly rubs, and treats; every day feels like a new adventure. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to share my joy with you, and I hope it brings a smile to your face.
Thank you for being part of my story, too—I hope your Thanksgiving is filled with as much love and joy as mine will be (especially if it includes turkey). Now, if you’ll excuse me, I think I see Summer coming over for playtime. Gotta run (literally)!
With a wagging tail and a grateful heart,
Bear 💛
