Dr. Teddy and The Case of the Glowing Pumpkin

Hello, my wonderful friends! Dr. Teddy here, golden retriever, part-time philosopher, and full-time pumpkin enthusiast. Today’s case began in the backyard just after sundown. The wind was cool, the leaves were crunchy, and Bear and I were supervising Mom as she set up her Halloween decorations. Everything was going smoothly until we saw it: the glowing pumpkin.

At first, I thought it was one of those fancy electric candles. But then it blinked. Twice.

Naturally, I took my job seriously. I approached carefully, tail held high, sniffed the air, and gave one small bark of inquiry. The pumpkin, completely unbothered, continued to glow. Bear, ever the brave sidekick, decided to boop it with his nose. Nothing happened, except that he sneezed glitter.

It turned out that Mom had sprinkled a little glow-in-the-dark dust on the pumpkins earlier, and we had simply forgotten. Mystery solved! But as I watched that soft orange light flicker against the night, I started to think, Halloween may not be about what scares us. It could be about curiosity, about discovering that the things we do not understand can turn out to be beautiful once we take a closer look.

I have learned that when we face what seems mysterious or uncertain, a little patience and a wagging tail can go a long way. Sometimes light hides in unexpected places, even inside a pumpkin.
