Food has magical qualities as well as nutritional! Food feeds our body and our emotions, and it brings us together. Getting together for meals seems to open avenues to reconnect that aren’t always available.
There seem to be cooking shows galore, and everybody is posting on social media pictures of something they prepared or are about to eat. So I thought as I try new recipes, I would share them with you. Sharing recipes goes right with my blog’s intent: my self-discovery journey and learning new things.
My mother was a creative painter and a model, and though she prepared nutritious home-cooked meals, her focus was not on food. As a result, my cooking skills developed from necessity rather than love.
I don’t consider myself a great cook, and I certainly don’t have any plans to write a cookbook, but my exposure to the HelloFresh recipes made me realize my tastes have changed over the years. Now I prefer something much more flavorful!
I’ve prepared corned beef and cabbage and many other meals in a crockpot before, but the corn beef and cabbage recipe I found onine for St. Patrick’s day was outstanding. I found the recipe on food.com. The papergoddess posted it.
CORNED BEEF IN BEER (CROCK POT)

DIRECTIONS
- Place potatoes, onions, carrots, and bay leaf in crock pot.
- Trim excess fat from brisket; put meat on top of veges.
- Mix molasses with beer and pour over all.
- Cover and cook on LOW heat setting 9-11 hours. If desired, place cabbage wedges on top of meat. to steam for last hour.
- Slice brisket thinly across grain (let it cool 5- 10 minutes for easier slicing).
- Serve with vegetables.
