The Mighty Bears

I’ve said many times that I’ve always loved bears. As a child, I had more teddy bears than other toys, but it wasn’t until we arrived in Arnold that I had real-life up close and personal contact with a black bear.

I have some fantastic recent videos to share with you.

Note: all of these videos currently appear on my YouTube channel, I Don’t Know All The Answers.

The first three videos document a mother bear and her two cubs. I want to think that Rose is returning with her two babies, but I can’t be sure because I can’t verify her facial characteristics.

In this first video, you’ll notice that one of the cubs is aware of my camera and stands up to look at it. I was so excited, thinking that I might have a picture of the cub’s face, but alas, I did not. Due to user error, the settings were not correct, and I missed the sweetest photo ever.

In the second video, the mother bear and one of her cubs are walking around the side of the house; the other is checking out my camera.

The third video, taken by a night vision camera, follows the mother bear and her cubs as they move towards the game trail.

The next two videos follow a completely different black bear. Our house has a game trail that flows around our house and branches off in different directions.

This video shows how interested the massive “Cinnamon” bear was in our scent. Jim, Teddy, and I were standing in this exact spot earlier.

This bear is quite large. I am guessing 350-400 pounds.

The next series of videos document a black bear moving East to West through the backyard on the game trail. The bear must have encountered something that frightened it because it quickly retraced its footsteps.

The bear appears to be stopping or perhaps even sitting and looking around before continuing its walk.

Watch as the bear quickly retreats.

I followed the game trail to learn more about it. The trail was clearly visible at times and invisible at others.

I was surprised to see how the area opened up. In my opinion, the animals would be very vulnerable in this open area.

Thank you for accompanying me on my journey! I love sharing with you!
