Peanut Butter & Kibble Stuffed Kong Toys for Teddy & Bear

A Kong Toy for Dogs is a great way to keep your pup entertained and mentally stimulated. They are engaging toys that encourage chewing and can also be filled with treats to reward good behavior.

The key to safely filling your Kong Toy is to use safe ingredients for your pup. Choosing ingredients such as cooked chicken, cheese, vegetables, yogurt, canned pumpkin, peanut butter, and yogurt are good options.

Note: Avoid using ingredients that contain sugar, artificial sweeteners, or unknown sugars (xylitol), as these can potentially upset their stomachs or harm your dog!

I make the peanut butter that I give to Teddy and Bear.
Homemade Peanut Butter is delicious and contains no sugar or preservatives.

Peanut Butter

This classic sandwich spread contains just one ingredient–peanuts.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups (600 g) peanuts, roasted, unsalted

Directions

  1. Place nuts into the Vitamix container and secure the lid.
  2. Start the blender at its lowest speed, then quickly increase it to its highest speed, using the tamper to press ingredients toward the blades.
  3. In 1 minute, you will hear a high-pitched chugging sound. Continue using the tamper until the peanut butter flows freely through the blades. For a creamy peanut butter blend, for a total of 2 minutes.

Note: I’ve shared this recipe before, but I thought it was appropriate to share it again.

I put one cup of Teddy and Bear's kibble in a bowl and added a large scoop of peanut butter.
Then I mixed the ingredients together.
I filled two Kong Toys with the peanut butter and kibble mixture, and then placed the Kong Toys in the freezer. I forgot the safety straw, and I am grateful that neither Teddy or Bear experienced any problem with suction.

When adequately filling the Kong Toy, there’s no one-size-fits-all approach. Experiment with different ingredients until you find something that works for your pup! Mix several safe ingredients in a bowl, then spoon or pip them into the Kong Toy. You can also freeze the filled Kong Toy for an extra-long-lasting activity.

No matter your chosen method, safety should always come first when filling out Kong Toys for Dogs. Be mindful of the importance of keeping both holes open in the Kong. There are two holes so the dog’s tongue will not become stuck inside the Kong because of the suction created when only one hole is open. With some creative experimentation and patience, you’ll soon find something your pup loves! Have fun exploring different combinations of ingredients – your furry friend will thank you for it!

Remember that Kong Toys should only be used as a treat and during supervised playtime. Always keep an eye on your pup while playing with their Kong Toy to ensure they don’t break it open or swallow pieces. If your dog does break the toy, immediately take it away from them and replace it with a new one.

Kong Toys for Dogs can bring you and your furry friend lots of fun! Teddy and Bear loved the peanut butter, and kibble stuffed Kong Toys! These toys will provide hours of entertainment with the right combination of safe ingredients and proper filling techniques. So have fun experimenting, and make sure to take safety precautions into account when choosing ingredients or filling out your Kong Toy. Happy exploring!
