The Rise of the Dust Bunnies

Moving can be a chaotic and exhausting process, especially when it comes to cleaning up. As someone who has gone through multiple moves, I know the feeling of being shocked by the mess left behind once all the furniture is moved out. Clutter, boxes, and pesky dust bunnies seem to multiply overnight.

But here’s the thing – amid all that chaos, there’s a sense of anticipation and excitement for what’s to come. It’s like a fresh start, a chance to organize and declutter our lives. And as daunting as it may seem now, once we’re settled into our new space, we’ll reflect on this hectic time with a sense of accomplishment.

Moving out is a bittersweet moment for most people. You’re excited about what’s ahead, yet sad to leave behind the memories you have created. However, before you go on to start a new chapter, there is one crucial task that has to be done – cleaning your house. Cleaning a home after you move out can be daunting, and not everyone can afford a cleaning crew. So, I will provide tips and step-by-step instructions on cleaning your house.

So once you’ve moved, here are some Tips and How-to Steps for Cleaning the house you just left.

Everybody is as busy as the little beaver!

Make a checklist

Before you start cleaning, list all the rooms and areas in your house – including the ceiling fans, carpets, and baseboards. Once you have a checklist, you can go from one room to another, ticking off your checklist. This will help you stay organized and make sure to complete everything necessary.

Declutter and dispose of unwanted items.

One of the essential things to do before cleaning your house is decluttering. Go through each room and determine what you want to keep, discard, or donate. Once you have identified the items to discard, pack them and dispose of them responsibly. You can also contribute to charities or give them to friends or family members who may need them.

Start with the ceiling and walls.

Cleaning the ceilings and walls can be challenging, but it’s essential to moving-out cleaning. Remove the cobwebs from the ceiling corners, then wipe down the walls with a soft cloth. If you find stains on the walls, use a mild cleaning solution or even baking soda and water to remove them. Remember to clean the doors and doorknobs, too.

Tackle the floors

Cleaning the floors is one of the most crucial tasks. It’s best to start by vacuuming or sweeping the floors to remove any loose dirt or debris. Follow this up by mopping the floors with a cleaning solution. If you have carpets, vacuum them thoroughly and consider renting a carpet cleaner to deep clean them.

Clean the bathroom and kitchen.

These are the areas that require the most cleaning effort. Scrub the bathroom toilet bowl, sink, shower, and bathtub. Clean the mirrors and fixtures and disinfect the surfaces. Clean the cabinets, countertops, sink, and appliances in the kitchen. Remember to defrost your fridge and clean it thoroughly.

Moving out can be overwhelming, and cleaning your house is just one of the tasks you must do. However, following the above tips and step-by-step instructions will make cleaning easier. You will have a clean house for the next tenant and take pride in knowing that you left your old home clean and organized. Good luck, and happy moving!
