Trees: Our Essential Resource

In a recent blog post, Forest Therapy: Find Peace and Creativity in Nature, I said the following.

“There is something about being in the forest surrounded by quiet trees that helps me to feel grounded and peaceful. I’ve noticed that whenever I am in the tall pines, I think much more clearly, and I find that I am more creative. Also, the older I become, the more I crave quiet.”

One of my readers, Bill Peterson, contributed that it was the “Pinene Terpenes that cleared my head and had many other beneficial health properties.” I wanted to know more! Thank you, Bill!

Trees provide oxygen, reduce pollution, and help to regulate the climate. They also play a crucial role by providing food, shelter, and fuel.

Trees are essential to our health and well-being, both physically and mentally. They provide shade, cool the summer temperatures, and act as windbreaks in the winter. Trees also improve air quality by trapping pollutants and releasing oxygen.

Trees are a valuable resource, providing lumber for construction and other products such as paper, fruit, nuts, and herbs. Trees also play an essential role in the economy by providing jobs for forestry workers and related industries.

“Trees are specialists in air filtration. They take in air that contains pollutants and dust, clean it by removing these particles from the air, and release it back to us. Thus, they can dramatically improve air quality.”

And now, adding to everything I knew about the benefits of trees, I learn about Pinene Terpenes. The benefits of pinene are numerous. Pinene is one of the most common terpenes and has multiple potential health benefits.

  • First, when inhaled, it can help improve mental focus and clarity. Yep, I notice that.
  • Second, I am much more creative and can write outlines for multiple future blog posts without a problem.
  • Additionally, it has anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties that can help reduce pain and inflammation in the body. As a result, I have noticed feeling more energetic.
  • Lastly, it has a calming effect that can help reduce stress levels. I noticed that too!

Terpenes are a large and diverse class of hydrocarbons produced by various plants. No wonder cooking with fresh herbs is so fragrant and fabulous! No wonder I feel so much better walking in the forest.

  • Basil
  • Dill
  • Parsley
  • Rosemary
  • Pine
  • Spruce
  • Juniper

I hope I have helped raise awareness of trees’ many benefits and the value of preserving our forests.
